I met Michele Parker when I was in Meridian, MS last week and she graciously shared this incredible recipe for German Chocolate Cake! ????
Ingredients:
1 pkg. German’s Chocolate
½ cup water
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
¼ tsp. salt
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
4 eggs, separated
1 tsp, vanilla
1 cup buttermilk
Directions:
Melt chocolate in bowl with water and cool. Mix flour, baking soda and salt (set aside). Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks and beat well. Blend in melted chocolate and vanilla. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk. Beat until well blended. Stir in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into prepared pans and bake in 350°oven for 30 minutes.
Coconut-pecan Frosting:
Beat 4 egg yolks, 1 can evaporated milk, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 ½ cups sugar, ¾ cups of butter in saucepan over medium heat for until thick and golden brown. Remove from heat, cool to desired spreading consistency, and frost cool cake.
